The Benefits of Trusting God

Proverbs 3:5-6

Trust in the Lord with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths. (KJV)

As stated in the previous post, trusting in God is not always easy. For some of us it is the most difficult thing to do. We try to control the circumstances, problems, and people around us. Our natural inclination is to fix everything when something goes wrong, which is not always a bad thing. Yet, what about the situations we cannot fix or get under control? What do we do then? Sometimes it feels as if there is no way out or as soon as one obstacle is overcome another arises. How are we suppose to handle trials and tribulations when it is over our heads? As the book of Proverbs declares, trust in God. Acknowledge Him and He will direct our path. God is a sovereign God. Everything that happens to us, He already knows about and has the solution. A lot of times we do not see or know it. I really do not think God is upset when we try to resolve our problems. After all, He gave us the ability to think. On the other hand, He also knows there are some instances in life we cannot get through without Him. As a matter of fact, He is the primary source to get through this earthly life. Does this mean life is always difficult? Absolutely not. In the midst of trials and suffering, it is possible to have peace and joy. Knowing the Lord is with us and fighting on our behalf is an assurance that at some point everything will be alright. Trouble does not last always. God's Word tells us His ways are better and higher. His thoughts are not our thoughts and His ways are not our ways. We have to choose to surrender our problems to Him. Sometimes we pick the problem back up, which does no good. In the midst of the trial, we do not always understand or see clearly. We make decisions based on emotions or impulse. Either way, God is with us. As long as we acknowledge Him, He will show us the path. The Psalmist wrote, God's word is a lamp unto my feet and a light unto my path -119:105 (KJV). How do we acknowledge Him? Through praise, prayer, and worship. Meditating on His word and remaining in communication with Him. It is also important for us to believe that He will and He is working it out for our own good (Romans 8:28). Nothing is too hard for God. Do not mistake His silence for absence. He is ever watching. He is faithful and true (Revelation 19:11). For this reason, my dear brothers and sisters, hold fast to the promises of God. Do not let go of His unchanging hand. Seasons come and go but the Word of the Lord stands forever. The more you trust Him, the more you will see His glory manifest in your life. The Lord blesses His children with the very best. He loves us too much to let us falter. He loves us so much that He even gave up is one and only son, Jesus, to die on the cross and rise on the third day, just so we can be reconciled to Him. How amazing is that? The love of God is too good, too sweet, and too strong to let us go. There is no other god like Him. My dear friends, do not let your trial get you down. I know it is easier said than done. Please, know that God is the best insurance you will ever have in this life. Just trust in Him.
